An organic compound, isomer of n-propanol, also known as dimethyl methanol, 2-propanol, also known as IPA in the industry. It is a colorless and transparent liquid with the odor of a mixture of ethanol and acetone. Soluble in water, but also soluble in alcohol, ether, benzene, chloroform and other organic solvents. MAIN APPLICATION

 

It is widely used as organic raw materials and solvents. As chemical raw materials, acetone, hydrogen peroxide, methyl isobutyl ketone, diisobutyl ketone, isopropylamine, isopropyl ether, isopropyl chloride, isopropyl ester of fatty acid and isopropyl chloride of chlorinated fatty acid can be produced. In the fine chemical industry, it can be used in the production of isopropyl nitrate, isopropyl xanthate, diisopropyl phosphite, aluminum isopropoxide, medicine and pesticides, as well as diisopropyl acetate, thymol and gasoline additives.

 

As a solvent, it is a cheap solvent in industry. It can be mixed with water freely. It has stronger solubility to lipophilic substances than ethanol. It can be used as solvent for nitrocellulose, rubber, coating, shellac, alkaloid, etc. It can be used in the production of coatings, inks, extractants, aerosols, etc. It can also be used as antifreeze, cleaner, additive of blended gasoline, dispersant of pigment production, fixing agent of printing and dyeing industry, antifogging agent of glass and transparent plastics, etc. It can be used as thinner of adhesive, antifreeze and dehydrating agent.

 

As a standard substance for chromatographic analysis, barium, calcium, copper, magnesium, nickel, potassium, sodium, strontium, nitrite and cobalt were determined.

 

As defoamer of water-based fracturing fluid in oil well, air forms explosive mixture, which can cause combustion explosion when exposed to open fire and high heat, and can react strongly with oxidant.

 

In electronic industry, it can be used as cleaning and degreasing agent. In the oil industry, the extraction agent of cottonseed oil can also be used for degreasing animal derived tissue membrane.

At present, there are three processes for producing isopropanol in domestic factories: propylene hydration, acetone hydrogenation and isopropyl acetate hydrogenation. Since 2020, the price of isopropanol has risen, the international crude oil price has fallen, and the price difference between propylene and isopropanol has expanded rapidly, which makes the domestic unprofitable propylene isopropanol plants reopened in 2019. In response to the coronavirus crisis, ExxonMobil announced in mid April to increase the production of isopropanol. Ineos, the largest isopropanol producer in Europe, is also increasing the production of disinfectants.

 

In 2020, the export tax rebate of isopropanol will be increased from 10% to 13%. In the case of domestic overcapacity, including lower consumption, in order to increase the external competitive advantage, the impact of isopropanol export tax rebate will last until the second half of the year. At present, the export volume of isopropanol this year will be significantly higher than that in 2019. The market of 2020-2021 is good, which will also create a market opportunity window for new enterprises.
