What is Triammonium Citrate-Food Grade?

Triammonium citrate is a citrate salt with the appearance of colorless crystals or white crystalline powder. It dissolves in water, has slight solubility in alcohol and ether, decomposes at high temperatures, and demonstrates hygroscopic properties. It can be used as a food additive and in the manufacture of detergents and cleaning agents, etc. It has the functions of decontamination, emulsification and preservation.

There are two main production processes for triammonium citrate. One is the citric acid neutralization method: citric acid is reacted with ammonia or ammonium hydroxide to generate triammonium citrate solution, and then evaporated and crystallized to obtain the product; the other is the barium precipitation method: citric acid is reacted with ammonium chloride to generate triammonium citrate precipitate, and then washed with water and dried to obtain the product.

Triammonium Citrate-Food Grade has a wide range of uses

Triammonium citrate is primarily employed in chemical analysis, industrial water treatment, metal cleaning (particularly in petroleum pipeline cleaning), ceramic dispersion, as a penetration aid, detergent raw material, and component of soil conditioners.

Additionally, it finds applications in pharmaceuticals, electronics, and other industries. In analytical chemistry, it serves as a chemical reagent for determining phosphates in fertilizers and effective phosphoric acid.

Finally, it acts as a cyanide-free electroplating complexing agent in the electroplating industry. It is used in the mechanical industry to prepare rust inhibitors.

User asked question:

Q: Are triammonium citrate and ammonium citrate the same?
A: The answer is yes. Triammonium citrate, also known as ammonium citrate, is a chemical substance with the characteristics of white deliquescent powder or crystals, easily soluble in water, decomposes at melting point, and is considered to be of low toxicity.

Triammonium citrate and ammonium citrate are actually different names for the same substance, which refers to the same compound chemically. This substance serves as a buffer, emulsifier, etc. in the food industry and is primarily utilized in cheese processing within the EEC.

Additionally, triammonium citrate finds application in chemical analysis, industrial water treatment, metal cleaning (such as oil pipeline cleaning), ceramic dispersants, as a penetration aid, detergent raw materials, and as a component of soil conditioners. It is also used in industrial fields such as medicine and electronics.
