Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Is L-Menthol the same as Menthol?
A: No. L-Menthol and Menthol usually refer to different things. Menthol refers to a broader category since it has eight isomers, each with different physical properties such as melting point, boiling point, and aroma. It is one of them, well known for its strong cooling effect and distinctive mint aroma.
Q: What is the difference between D-Menthol and L-Menthol?
A: L-Menthol is the levorotatory isomer of menthol, characterized by a refreshing, spicy sweetness and a strong cooling effect. D-Menthol is the dextrorotatory isomer, with a light camphor-like and woody aroma, and a milder cooling sensation. Therefore, L-Menthol is generally considered superior to D-Menthol in practical applications.
Q: How should menthol be stored?
A: It should be stored in sealed containers, kept in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.
